I’m running as a candidate for school board because I want better schools for everyone. I want schools that prepare all students for the future by helping them achieve their maximum potential; that attract and retain highly qualified educators; and that encourage open communications between teachers, students, parents, and the community.

As a child growing up in South America, I learned at an early age from my mother, a long-time kindergarten teacher, and my father, a public servant, the importance of family, education, and service to one’s community.

My family immigrated to the United States in the early 2000s, while I stayed in Bolivia to finish high school and attend university.  I graduated with the highest honors and earned a degree in Business Administration. I had started my professional life when I soon learned that my mother was battling cancer. I made the decision to leave everything and come to the US, not knowing what lay in store for me, but having faith that everything would work out.

Shortly after my mother passed away, I boarded a plane to return to Bolivia. It was a conversation about the importance of staying together as a family with a stranger on that plane that brought me back to Virginia to help my elementary-aged siblings with their education.

Eventually, I got married to a wonderful Spanish teacher and had 2 kids. Our daughter, Sophia, is going into 8th grade at Metz and our son, Matt, will be in 11th grade at Osbourn. Both of our children started their educational journeys in Manassas as Kindergarten students at Round Elementary.

Over the years, I have served as a PTO/PTA officer at Round Elementary School and at Metz Middle School. I have volunteered on the Board for the Wellington Dolphins swim team, and I held the role of parent coordinator for the Future Kings organization. 

 

As a professional with nearly 20 years of experience, I work as a Senior Director of Engagements for a large US-based IT company. In my role, I manage a team of consultants spread throughout the US, Latin America, and India. I’m a data driven individual who advises Fortune 100 companies on how to optimize their telecom environment. I look to provide efficiency in their process and implement best practices. I also perform Audits of their spending to ensure that they are getting the most bang for their buck.
